Custom Jeep Wrangler Pricing FAQ
Here are some of the most common pricing questions related to customizing Jeep Wranglers, answered by Tony from Genright.
1. How much do custom paint jobs cost for a Jeep Wrangler?
Custom paint jobs start at $5,000. That price is not painting under the hood either. I know people that have spent $20,000 for a full color change, 3 stage metallic paint jobs. However, these days almost everyone just does a “wrap” running about $4,000.
2. How much does it cost to customize a Jeep Wrangler on average?
Well, everyone's idea of customize is different. That is part of the fun when you own a Jeep. They are pretty easy to personalize them and can be done a little at a time (as you can afford it).
3. How much does it cost to have a Jeep lifted, and is it worth it?
Lifting a Jeep can be as simple as a body or puck lift, which only costs $300 (plus labor to install). Most people want a suspension lift and those range from $500 to $15,000 (plus labor to install). Obviously, that price range goes from a simple lift (made in China) to full race suspension with coil over shocks (made in USA). Yes, you get what you pay for! Yes, it is worth it. This will allow you to run bigger tires and have more ground clearance. However, this is a slippery slope, as now you will need to re-gear or get bigger axles.
4. What is the biggest size tire you can put on a stock Jeep Wrangler?
You can safely put a 35” tire on Jeep Wranglers. Depending on the year with little or no lift. Most people want 37s or 40" tires. Both of those require bigger/beefier axles which could add an additional $5,000 to $20,000 to your build. If you're doing a lot of off-road driving and buying new wheels, you should consider bead lock wheels. These allow you to run lower tire pressure allowing for more traction off road.
5. How much do Jeep half doors cost and are they worth it?
Aftermarket half doors are about $800 per pair. Typically made of aluminum, they are lighter weight than the stock doors. Most are designed to have a bigger opening allowing the driver and passenger more visibility when on the trail. I think they are worth it, plus you keep your factory doors at home away from costly body shop repairs.
