Roof racks, done right

Find the best roof rack for your vehicle

A roof rack turns your truck or SUV into a true overlanding platform β€” a place to mount a rooftop tent, an awning, traction boards, and the gear that won't fit inside. The right rack is engineered for one platform, so use the brand filter below to shop your favorite rack maker β€” or jump to a vehicle collection.

How to Choose a Roof Rack

Roof rack vs. bed rack β€” which do you need?

A roof rack mounts to the cab of your truck or the roof of your SUV β€” ideal for tents, awnings, kayaks, and cargo up high. A bed rack mounts over a truck bed, better when you want to keep weight low or run a tent and still use the bed. Many truck owners run both.

Full-length vs. low-profile

Full-length platforms give the most room for a rooftop tent plus accessories. Low-profile racks sit closer to the roofline for a cleaner look, less wind noise, and better garage clearance. Both carry a tent on most platforms.

Weight capacity: dynamic vs. static

Dynamic capacity is what the rack carries while driving; static capacity is what it holds parked β€” the number that matters when two adults are asleep in a rooftop tent. Every rack lists its ratings, and we'll confirm fit for your exact setup.

Fitment & no-drill installation

Because these racks are engineered per vehicle, almost all bolt to factory points with no cutting or drilling. Use the filter above to see only racks that fit.

Going overlanding? Plan the whole setup

A rack is the foundation. Add a roof top tent for sleeping and an awning for shade and rain cover.

Questions

Roof Rack FAQ

What's the difference between a roof rack and a bed rack?
A roof rack mounts to the cab or SUV roof; a bed rack mounts over a pickup bed. Roof racks keep the bed free and put gear up high, while bed racks keep weight lower and let you run a tent over the bed. Pickup owners often use a bed rack for a tent and a roof rack for everything else.
Will a roof rack fit my truck or SUV?
Yes β€” as long as you choose one built for your platform. Every rack we carry is vehicle-specific. Use the filter above to see only racks that fit, or text us your year/make/model and we'll confirm.
Do I need to drill into my roof?
Almost never. The vast majority of our racks bolt to factory mounting points or existing rails with no drilling or cutting. Each product page lists its exact mounting method.
How much weight can a roof rack hold?
It depends on the rack and your vehicle's roof rating. Look at dynamic capacity (driving) and static capacity (parked). For a rooftop tent, the static number plus your roof's rating is what matters.
Can I mount a roof top tent on a roof rack?
Absolutely β€” that's one of the most popular reasons to add one. You'll want a rack rated for your tent's weight. Browse compatible tents in our roof top tents for trucks collection.
Are roof racks universal?
The best ones aren't. Universal crossbars exist, but a vehicle-specific platform fits better, carries more, and looks cleaner because it's designed around your exact roofline and mounting points.
Will a roof rack make my vehicle louder or hurt gas mileage?
A well-designed rack with a wind fairing keeps noise minimal, and the fuel-economy impact is usually small. Low-profile racks and integrated fairings cut wind noise further.
Which brands do you carry?
We're an authorized dealer for Sherpa, Prinsu, Rhino-Rack, and more.
