Everything in this tent is extremely durable and designed to last for a long long time.

The body of iKamper Skycamp features a double-layered FRP shell, a super thick fabric, and a 750D rainfly.

In other words, It's 100% waterproof, and you can use this tent in ANY WEATHER you want.

Heavy rain, snow, high winds -- It doesn't matter! You will always be comfortable.

You won't have any issues like water leaks or dust entering inside when it's windy.

The sleeping area of Skycamp is VERY LARGE AND SPACIOUS! 4 people can sleep comfortably without feeling congested.

There's also a lot of headspace. You can sit up straight without hitting the roof.

The 9-zone 2.5" thick polyfoam mattress of Skycamp is the BEST MATTRESS you can find in a roof top tent.

It's cushy and provides excellent support. You will sleep like a baby.

Skycamp 3.0 is insulated all around. It will keep you WARM and COZY even on freezing winter nights.

60 seconds on average! That's how long it takes open and close this tent. Fast like Usain Bolt and as easy as ABC. It's a NIGHT and DAY difference compared to ground tents.

Overall, iKamper Skycamp is an ABSOLUTE BEAST! It's the first Tundra roof top tent we recommend to everyone.

If it's in your budget, go for it with your eyes closed! You won't regret it.

    Pros

    • Large and spacious sleeping area.
    • Extreme weather protection.
    • Fantastic sleeping experience regardless of the weather.
    • Skylight windows on the roof.
    • You can store your bedding, blankets, and pillows inside.
    • Easy and Fast to open and close.

    Cons

    • Expensive!
    • You might see an overhang in 5.5 and 6.5 ft Tundra.

Best 3 Person - Roam Vagabond

Best 3 Person Tundra Roof Top Tent

Roam Vagabond is a bang-for-your-buck option. It outperforms every tent in around its price range.

    • Sleeping Capacity: 3 people
    • Price: $$$
    • Rating: 4.9/5
    • Width & Length (Closed): 56" W x 48" L
    • Setup Time: 3-5 minutes
    • Weight: 130 lbs

Roam Vagabond OVERDELIVERS in almost every department. Yes, It has a few flaws but NOT A DEALBREAKER.

It is also the sexiest and most rugged roof top tent we could find. Your Tundra will look even better with it.

The body of Roam Vagabond is entirely waterproof and can handle any weather.

You can sleep in a thunderstorm, and NOT a single drop of water will get inside the tent.

The mattress of Vagabond is VERY VERY GOOD. It's 3" thick with an anti-condensation mat underneath.

It's a PLEASURE to sleep on.

The base of Vagabond is very well insulated. You will be pretty warm even in cold weather.

If you need extra space, You can add an annex to Vagabond. It is a ground room great for changing clothes and sleeping pets.

There are two skylight windows built into the roof. Not only do they let you stargaze, but they also improve airflow in bad weather.

All windows include a mesh screen. It provides PRIVACY and prevents dust, rain, and insects from getting inside.

Setting up and taking down this Tundra roof top tent takes about 3-5 minutes. Not as fast as iKamper, but it's EFFORTLESS.

Overall, Roam Vagabond is a GREAT DEAL for the price. You cannot compare it to tents like iKamper, but it's the best in this price range.

    Pros

    • All-weather protection.
    • Skylight windows with mesh screens.
    • You can store bedding inside.
    • Option to add annex.
    • Comfortable sleeping experience.
    • Easy to set up and takedown.

    Cons

    • Not as quick to set up as hard shell tents.
    • Bit bulky when closed. You might see a slight drop in MPG when mounted on the roof.

    Best Cheap - OVS TMBK

Best Cheap Roof Top Tent for Tundra

TMBK is excellent for a tight budget. It's perfect by any means but does the basics well.

TMBK roof top tent for Tundra

OVS TMBK Tundra roof top tent side view
    • Sleeping Capacity: 2-3 people
    • Price: $
    • Rating: 4.2/5
    • Width & Length (Closed): 57” W x 49”.5 L
    • Setup Time: 7-10 minutes
    • Weight: 108 lbs
    • Learn More: Link

TMBK is a STARTER tent. It doesn't have the luxuries of tents like Vagabond or iKamper.

But it does a decent job all around.

You can use TMBK in most weather conditions. But try to avoid extreme conditions.

It does a GOOD JOB keeping the water out during the rainfall. But not so good in preventing condensation in cold weather.

Investing in an anti-condensation mat is a must if you do a lot of cold camping. They cost about $150 avg.

The fabric of TMBK flaps and makes noise during high winds. Not a dealbreaker but quite irritating when you are trying to sleep.

Speaking about sleep, The sleeping area is pretty SPACIOUS. You can fit 2 adults and 1 kid easily.

The included foam mattress is 2.5" THICK. It's not bad, but it's not good, either.

You will have to add extra padding on top to make it more cushy and comfortable.

The base of TMBK is INSULATED. You will be warm in cold weather but need a good sleeping bag when camping in freezing conditions.

All the windows, including two skylight windows, are pretty large. Hence, the airflow inside is excellent even on HOT SUMMER DAYS.

TMBK is not very fast to set up and takedown. It takes about 7-10 minutes, but it's relatively EASY. You can do it without help.

Overall, TMBK is a good beginner tent. 10x better than any ground tents!

It has its issues. But with a few upgrades like mattress, insulation, and anti-condensation mat -- You can turn it into a BEAST.

    Pros

    • Affordable
    • Compact and lightweight.
    • Fits Tundra without Overhang.
    • Spacious sleeping area.
    • Easy to set up and takedown.
    • Skylight windows on the roof.

    Cons

    • It takes 7-10 minutes to set up and takedown.
    • Condensation in cold weather.
    • You cannot store your sleeping bags inside.
    • The mattress is OK.
    • Noisy in windy conditions.

Best Clamshell - Roofnest Sparrow Eye

Best Clamshell Roof Top Tent for Tundra

Roofnest Sparrow Eye is a close competitor of iKamper Skycamp. Minor flaws here and there, but it gets most of the things right.

    • Sleeping Capacity: 2 people
    • Price: $$$$$
    • Rating: 4.8/5
    • Width & Length (Closed): 85"L x 50″W
    • Setup Time: 1-2 minutes
    • Weight: 130 lbs
    • Learn More: Link

Roofnest Sparrow Eye is the SECOND BEST option after iKamper Skycamp 3.0.

A very different design from iKamper but comes pretty close in terms of quality and comfort.

The body construction of Sparrow features a fiberglass shell and a thick waterproof fabric.

It is very solid and durable. You can use it even in EXTREME WEATHER without issues.

Roofnest Sparrow does an EXCELLENT JOB in the sleeping department.

It has excellent insulation throughout the body. You won't feel cold even when it's freezing outside.

The foam mattress, on the other hand, is 2.7" thick. It's not as good as iKamper's mattress.

But it is good enough to get a GOOD NIGHT's sleep without adding extra padding.

The inner wall fabric has a blackout coating. So when you close all the windows, the tent turns into a PITCH BLACK SLEEPING CAVE.

Not only does it help you sleep better, but it also prevents the sun rays from hitting your eyes and waking you up in the morning.

Setting up and taking down Sparrow Eye is similar to iKamper Skycamp. EASY AND EFFORTLESS. It takes less than 1-2 minutes.

Overall, Roofnest Sparrow Eye is a KILLER option for your Tundra. Yes, It falls a bit short compared to iKamper, but it is cheaper.

You won't be disappointed buying this one.

    Pros

    • Extreme weather protection.
    • The aerodynamic design prevents wind noise.
    • Comfortable sleeping experience.
    • You can store sleeping bags and blankets inside.
    • Blackout coating blocks sunlight.
    • Fast and effortless setup and takedown.

    Cons

    • Overhangs at the end.
    • No Skylight window.

Best for Family - OVS Nomadic 4

Family Roof Top Tent for Tundra

Nomadic 4 is the best budget option for families. It's spacious and a big step up from basic options like TMBK.

    • Sleeping Capacity: 4 people
    • Price: $$
    • Rating: 4.4/5
    • Width & Length (Closed): 75"L x 47″W
    • Setup Time: 7-10 minutes
    • Weight: 183 lbs
    • Learn More: Link

No tent at this price offers the space Nomadic 4 offers.

    It is HUUUUUGE!

3 ADULTS + 1 KID can sleep comfortably without feeling congested. You also have the option to add an annex if you need more room.

The body of Nomadic is 100% waterproof. It holds up well even in bad weather conditions.

But it has a few issues...

The body fabric flaps and makes noise in windy conditions. Not fun when you are trying to get some sleep.

There is also NO ANTI-CONDENSATION MAT underneath the mattress. You will have to keep an eye out for condensation in cold weather.

The foam mattress of Nomadic 4 is 3" thick. It's good quality, but some people might feel it's too firm.

If you feel so, Adding extra padding on top can help.

There is NOT ENOUGH SPACE to store the mattress and sleeping bags inside when the tent is closed.

You will haul them up from your every time you want to sleep. Not very convenient, but not a dealbreaker.

Setting up and taking down Nomadic 4 is EASY but slow. It will take you about 10 minutes or less. Longer if the weather is bad.

Overall, Nomadic 4 does a lot of things well. It's a KILLER option in this range.

Yes, It has a few things that could be better, but that's understandable for the price you are paying.

    Pros

    • Spacious sleeping area.
    • 100% waterproof.
    • Skylight window on the rainfly.
    • Includes free accessories like LED lights, shoe bags, etc.
    • Easy to setup and takedown.
    • 4-year warranty.

    Cons

    • Cannot store bedding inside the tent.
    • Condensation issue in cold weather.
    • Noisy in windy conditions.
    • Takes 10 minutes to setup.

3 Things To Look Out For

Before choosing a roof top tent for your Tundra, keep the following things in mind:

    Cold Weather Camping
Do you camp a lot in cold weather? Then make sure the tent is well insulated and includes an anti-condensation mat.

    Overhang
If your roof top tent is large, there is a good chance it will overhang near the end of the bed. It DOESN'T affect performance, but it might look good aesthetically. If aesthetics are important to you, you should go for a compact tent like Roam Vagabond.

    Camping with a Dog
Do you take your dog on your trips? Then make sure the tent has an option to add an annex. It's not easy to carry a dog up and down the ladder. The best option is to use the annex as a SLEEPING SPACE for your dog.

How to Install A Roof Top Tent on Tundra

There are 3 different ways to mount a roof top tent on Tundra. Here's what they are:
