With thick walls, a metal base, and several inches of mat + mattress, you'll be plenty comfortable no matter the elements.Ā
Do rooftop tents damage the roof?
Rooftop tents do not damage the roof of the vehicle with proper installation and use! TheĀ tentĀ attaches to the crossbars of the roof rack and never even touches the roof.
How much MPG do you lose from a roof top tent?
Hard shell tents like the TMON are more aerodynamic than soft shell ones, given their hard outer shell and lower profile. If you mount it on the bed of your truck, beneath the cab, you won't see any loss in fuel efficiency whatsoever. If you mount it on the roof of your car or truck, you may see your MPG drop by 1 or 2. If you do most of your driving on highways, expect closer to 2+. If you are just bouncing over dirt roads, you'll barely notice a difference.Ā
